May 27, 2025 – Ambassador Émile Ngoy Kasongo Named Honorary Citizen of the Commune of Trois-Rivières, Guadeloupe. During his visit to Guadeloupe, His Excellency Émile Ngoy Kasongo, Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo to France, was named Honorary Citizen of the Commune of Trois-Rivières by the Mayor, Mr. Jean-Louis.
Located 45 minutes from Pointe-à-Pitre, the commune of Trois-Rivières is a symbolic place of memory. It is among the final destinations of enslaved people originating from the territory corresponding to today’s Democratic Republic of Congo, locally referred to as the “Congos.”
This recognition reflects the depth of the historical and cultural ties between the Democratic Republic of Congo and the peoples of the Caribbean.
